The third edition of the Benidorm Fest has broken a new record: RTVE has received 825 proposals through the web form compared to the 455 received last year through this same means. Nearly 200 songs were submitted in the last 24 hours before the deadline.

A fact worth highlighting is that all of them have been presented with a complete set of singer and song. This achievement becomes even more relevant when compared to the previous edition in which, despite the similar number of participants with 876 applications, more than 300 songs were sent without an interpreter. Both the Benidorm Fest management and the three musical advisors, Pablo Cebrián, Tony Sánchez-Ohlsson and David Martínez (Rayden), have maintained their commitment to the integrity of the proposals and highlight the importance of presenting complete musical works.

Of the 825 songs presented, 23 of them have been the result of the song camp pilot project carried out by RTVE: a meeting between Spanish and international composers that took place during the third week of September with the aim of enriching the festival's selection. and of which more details will be offered soon.

This year's work system by the management and musical advisors has been much more personalized. Part of their work has focused on carrying out a direct search for talent with artists and record labels in an attempt to better understand the Benidorm Fest project and to attract the greatest talent possible.

It is notable that 2024 has been the call with the largest number of musical styles received. There are several proposals for reggaeton, trap, urban and electronic music, genres that were not predominant in previous years. There has been an increase in the number of proposals in co-official languages.

Regarding the profile of those who have sent their proposals, there are both already established artists and emerging artists. This variety of genres and singers is the result of RTVE's effort to make the Benidorm Fest a contest that reaches all audiences, without losing focus on seeking candidates that are as competitive as possible in the Eurovision Song Contest.

After closing the process of receiving applications, at this moment the RTVE committee of experts for the Benidorm Fest is working on listening to the topics received. From them they will choose the 16 best proposals that will participate next year in the Benidorm Fest on January 30 and February 1 in the semifinals, and in the grand final on February 3.

Once this selection has been made, RTVE will present the participants of the Benidorm Fest 2024 on November 11 in Seville, within the framework of the Latin Grammys that will be held a few days later in the Seville city. At the beginning of November, work will begin on the staging and production of the galas that will be broadcast by La 1 on Spanish Television. In each semifinal, eight songs will compete and the four best from each gala will advance to the grand final. Finally, eight songs will fight to win the bronze microphone and represent Spain at Eurovision on May 11 in Malmö, Sweden.
