Ana Carvajal and Valeria Antolino, thirteenth in the synchronized platform

Ana Carvajal and Valeria Antolino, thirteenth in the synchronized platform

Ana Carvajal and Valeria Antolino have not been able to fight for the Olympic place in the synchronized platform

The Spanish show jumping had a double session of competition this Tuesday at the Doha World Championships. After the elimination in the three-meter springboard preliminary of the brand new synchronized medalists Adrián Abadía and Nicolás García Boissier, in the afternoon session it was the turn of Valeria Antolino and Ana Carvajal in the women's synchronized ten-meter platform, in direct ending.

The Spanish have not had the chance to fight for one of the four Olympic places at stake, with France, China, Great Britain and the United States already outside that fight. They were thirteenth with 237.24 points after seeing how the last two jumps completely changed the direction of a competition in which they had been confident with their jumps until then. It should be noted that Ana Carvajal already tied the place on an individual platform in the last World Cup in Fukuoka.

Carvajal and Antolino had started with 42.60, 44.40 and 63 points in the initial rounds, with scores between 6.5 and 8 points, in general. However, they failed in the fourth, with 38.28 points, and this has caused them to drop from ninth to eleventh place while their rivals were moving away. The last one, with a 48.96 in an attempt of 3.2 difficulty, they have not been able to square it either and those marks have ended up condemning them to thirteenth place.
